The environment of IT industry is changing. So, IT engineers need to develop their skill to fit environment. In Japan, IPA (Information Technology Promotion Agency) produced IT Skill Standards (ITSS). ITSS defined IT skill of IT engineers into 11 job categories and 7 levels. ITSS has been used in large companies, but it has not been utilized in small and medium-sized enterprises. I will report the issues and the usefulness of ITSS.
